Someone who "knows things" said to me now that this is the fall-out from LTCM. But it looks even bigger than that, to me. What it is, I can't say. That's why I mentioned war.

This is a MAJOR crash in the US dollar from its previous pinnacle of strength. The bond market will give the clue, when it opens, but I'm sure the bull market there has come to an abrupt ending, too. If so, does it imply the Japs have started selling their US Treasuries?

I hear that the S&P was limit down at 7H00 EST --- and that is before the US market even opened!

Looks like precious metals are the only place to be. Now, even the blind AND those that will not see will observe that the long term trend lines in POG and XAU have been cut! Small beer, but some consolation.
