HONG KONG, SINGAPORE and PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 1998--IBM Corp. and JDA Software Group
(NASDAQ:JDAS - news), an international provider of enterprise retail solutions, Monday announced their partnership to
deliver the most integrated suite of front-store and corporate office retail solutions in the Greater China region.

The partnership signifies the incorporation of the most advanced information technology solutions into the retail marketplace,

As part of the agreement, JDA's software products will be distributed, implemented and supported through IBM's extensive

''The strategic alliance with such a prominent retailer solutions company, JDA, reveals IBM's commitment in offering the

An Integrated Solution for Greater China Retailers

The JDA Retail Enterprise Management System is a leading, fully integrated solution for retailers to manage their entire retail
supply chain from planning, buying and receiving to transferring, distributing and selling of goods to pricing and performance
analysis.

The solution consists of two major components; AS/400-based Merchandise Management System(TM) (MMS(R)) for
corporate headquarters and Distributed Store Systems(TM) for Windows (Win/DSS(R)) for integrated store-level and store
back office management.

''This major initiative with JDA will address the unique requirements of retailers and help them enhance their competitive
advantage in the market. By leveraging the advantages of effective management along the supply chain, retailers can improve
overall profitability and productivity,'' Poon added.

The JDA solution is ideal for innovative retail clients who operate multiple stores and multiple distribution centers requiring a
comprehensive enterprise-wide management information system. It enables customers to have an accurate tracking of the
movement of inventory at various branches and plan ahead for any purchasing decisions.

In addition, the automatic replenishment feature automates the process of refilling the stock by creating flexible replenishment
schedules for specific products or locations when certain predetermined inventory levels are reached.

In addition to the advantage of comprehensive supply chain management, the JDA solution enables retailers to develop and
track various merchandise plans and assists in determining how much merchandise is needed for each period. Also, retailers
can manage and locate multiple product transfers from store to store, store to warehouse and warehouse to warehouse.

Using the decision and action support tools, merchandise, inventory and sales information can be analyzed and immediate
action taken to improve performance and profitability by chain, store or stores groups.
