Iomega's Vapor! drive suffering from Mechanical Problems

boards.fool.com

This post on TMF board comes from Exile, who claims to have inside knowledge at Iomega. His past claims have proven to be true.

He claims that the release date for Vapor! was supposed to be Oct.29, but Iomega is having problems with Drop Tests, Media, and various delicate and tiny mechanical parts. Do these concerns sound vaguely familiar?

He says a November ship date is more likely, and I don't doubt him. I believe that Iomega is likely to ship Vapor! still full of bugs. After all, Iomega has demonstrated this disregard for its customers before with its Zip Plus debacle. Iomega has demonstrated that all it cares about is trying to get cash $$$ inflows, the customer be damned. I think that Iomega considers this Christmas season as its last chance to sell any Vapor! drives at all before Flash Cards drop even more in price early next year.

Exile also reports that there is no CEO because Iomega has been in talks with a buyer, but Iomega Execs are trying to keep their jobs in the process. As a result, talks are not going well. I also imagine that the buyout prices offered are unattractive, probably somewhere around the $5 figure I've thrown out.
