WOW! El could get a real complex with you putting that kind of responsibility on his back. So for what it's worth, I going to jump in and say some thing.

If you clear $300,000 or $400,000 a year, The margin might not mean much. If you don't clear $100,000 a year, don't do it. Margin is bad. Cash is King. Put all your cash on the table, but don't put your life on the table. Some one might take it.

CG.... Right now, I'd have to say I'd be surprised to see it find it's way back to 38. If it should get back to 38, that would still be a pretty fat return on your money. You could buy 2000 shares here @ 24 with your 50k. If you can borrow the $$$ @ 10%, All you need is 1 1/4 points in 6 months to pay off all of your full term interest. Or everything over 25 1/4 is gravy if you actually go the full 6 mos. on the loan. But 6 months is a looooong way out and virtually ANYTHING can happen. El

"El, I'm thinking of taking out a $50,000 loan to buy some more CPQ stock...I need a 6 month prediction on where you think the stock will be...if it's double what it is today, I'm going for it!"

You're nuts! Nobody has a clue where it will be in 6 months. Yea we all can do an educated guess, but unless one of us is from the future nobody knows. Not even God. Long term i believe CPQ is an excellent investment but I wouldn't borrow $50,000 and hope for a 6 month pop. Take a look a Long Term Capital. Two noble prize winners, borrowed heavily and got burned big time on guessing market direction. Go for it, if you think you are smarter than these guys. If not only invest with cash on hand so you can ride it out if wrong.

I agree with El - high 30's is a safe bet, 40's not unrealistic, could do a lot more, but if there's a meltdown we could be looking at prices like today 6 months from now. I have never borrowed to buy stock, but your comfort level may be different than mine.
