As far as the margins, my thoughts are not on % revenue per unit, but actual dollar amounts. Certainly a PC selling for 1000 dollars will return at 5% profit only 50 dollars, but a 3000 dollar computer selling at 5% will return 150 dollars. As the company stated, the low prices they are seeing are, for a large part, due to the inexpensive computers which they make very little money on. So anything that will make these more expensive will be more money per unit sold, although the margin stays the same.

As for the future, I am a believer in the thought that the PC industry is effectively past history and through the lucrative portion of its growth. Now its cut throat competition and turning more into a commodity. This is hard to make money in. I think the next future lucrative field will be telecommunications, and companies like Qwest and Vitesse, along with PCM-Sierra seem poised to make some big bucks in the next few years.
