It's exactly the same tactic used on the elderly, the poor and minorities.

A particularly ironic twist on the "Do it for the Children" shibboleth.

<<Your purported fear of the anti-abortion crowd seems to me to be a red herring; the implied threat therein sounds far too much like trying to scare young women into hating Republicans than rational argument>>

I'm not sure this is a red herring - I agree it shouldn't be the issue, but I think it really is, at least in large part. It seems to me that many of the people that oppose impeachment are afraid that the RR will gain too much momentum or power from it. If the Republican party looked more moderate, I don't think Clinton's ratings would be so high.

<<It's exactly the same tactic used on the elderly, the poor and minorities>>

And it works, too <g>. In an earlier discussion, I posited the use of a "scale" to weigh the evils caused by Clinton's actions against the evils caused by any impeachment hearing. People are not looking at this in a vacuum. They are weighing the effects on government policy and their sacred cows along with the actual harm done to society done by the head of the country.

<< the implied threat therein sounds far too much like trying to scare young women into hating Republicans than rational argument. >>

All the Republicans have to do is to endorse a woman's right to chose, and young women would not have to "hate" Republicans (your words).

What kind of a message is sent to young women when the Republicans want to outlaw partial birth abortion, even if the life and health of a mother is at stake? All Clinton asked for was the exclusion for a woman's life or health. The Republican said an emphatic NO! They would sacrifice a woman's life on the alter of a deformed fetus!

<< It's demeaningly insipid but it seems to be the currency of exchange between the elitist liberals and the uneducated and ignorant. >>

I love you too.
