That begs the question somewhat, and I'm not sure you're correct. It would be easier to fight those types of charges if you have the resources of the Presidency behind you, than it would be from a jail cell. However, is your beef with the impeachment process in general (not in relation to the current crisis) or just with its use for the current set of circumstances?

That would depend. I don't believe impeachment is the correct venue for the current accusations (I think a criminal court would be more appropriate, after Clinton leaves office), but I could easily see my way to supporting impeachment for using the IRS or the FBI to intimidate opponents. That sort of use of a secret police, so to speak, is a truly frightening abuse of power. Again, I am not saying Clinton did that, only that if that is what was found for any President, I would support impeaching that President.
