The Trading Goddess Says: Get Out

By James J. Cramer
10/8/98 12:32 PM ET

Bonds getting killed. Dollar getting killed. Market
getting killed.

Hedge funds leveraged to their eyeballs and still
betting. Horrible week. Never seen worse ...

Am I describing the screen in front of me?

No, I am describing the week before the crash in
1987, when I saw all the same crazy things. I
have not invoked '87 in any of my writings before
because I have always felt that '87 was an
aberration. I sold into the week before the crash,
at the urging of my wife, who said she did not
see enough capitulation from the mutual funds.
She did not see bid-wanted situations.

Same thing now. Same wife saying get out.
Same ugliness like you would not believe. And it
was before the crash.

Same feeling; same pit-of-my-stomach feeling.
