It is just as likely as the Republican leadership pretending that the impeachment vote has nothing to do with the mid-term election.

I hate to go off-topic towards the scandal again, but as long as we're in a non-debate kind of atmosphere ...

Your statement is pretty interesting, particularly since Clinton's impeachment or resignation would lead to Gore taking the office, which Republicans don't seem to want. It sure presents an interesting dilemma for the GOP: evict Clinton only to have Gore rise to the top, or leave Clinton as a lame duck only to risk criticism from fellow Republicans.

Ah, the sweet stench of politics. No wonder people like Colin Powell are reluctant to enter.
