Why??

I know you are waiting for $150 for the past two weeks. I am sure it's not going to happen!!

Cover NOW! This is a capitulation day! You will watch your profits disappear!

You are just plain wrong, OLU.

I will continue to emotionally short pigly lemon tankers until the
high betas stop outperforming the small caps, for a fair amount of
time. The market simply cannot survive healthfully with twisted and
self interested ideologies like "the rich will only get richer, the
poor poorer" pervading ad infinitum, IMO. This trend/ideology may
have its place short term, but is destructive of wealth for all when
it goes on too long. The bull market is over until this trend
changes, IMO. The small caps have been slaughtered for months on end
now.

Note even today the trend continues:

Description Last Change %Change Day Low Day High Date/Time
High Beta 842.92 -46.50 -5.22 841.67 889.42 1998/10/08 14:06:00
Wilshire Small Cap*** 408.02 -27.74 -6.36 407.73 435.76 1998/10/08 14:06:00

I'm quite happy with my own perceptions and understanding of the
market, at present.

I hope you are happy and find success with yours.

JMHO

Olu, think about it,

Jun/98 Float - 10 million shares, short int. - 8.7 million shares
Oct/98 Float - 13 million shares, short int. - 7.3 million shares

There are very few retail short shares available; which one(s) of the elephants do you think are shorting the "5 million(13M - 7.3M) shares???

3 million shares from Junglee/Plant. are setting to be sold. How many shares will the VCs and insiders want to sell two weeks after the earning reports??

Hi Olu 'New High' Emuleomo (hate those Finnish spellings!),

Thanks for the advice. However for much of my Oct out of money puts there are no market to speak of :( - i.e. no way to cover. And I am not selling my November and January puts. I am still waiting for internet bubbles to deflate fully before covering.

>> This is a capitulation day! <<

I thought we saw some capitulation in some techs this morning, BUT there are some real telling statistics that tell me it's better to not go long yet.

For instance...there were 1561 new lows on the Nasdaq today. That was the absolute worst of the day. I think it is the worst ever. Now look at the Nasdaq which cut it's losses more than in half. I sat there and watched new Nasdaq lows increase every single minute as the Nasdaq composite rallied from a hundred down to only 43 down.

That is just one indicator that says this was a lame rally, it also disturbs me that the Dow doesn't ever seem to capitulate. I am amazed that it holds up so well.

OK. I do think you are right, Olu. For a short term, that is. Given strong reversal today, AMZN can very well rally to the neckline on hourly H&S pattern. That would be a rally (tomorrow?) to 100-102 or so.

iqc.com

However I think that would be another excellent shorting opportunity. And AMZN is definitely not making a new high. In fact , I believe we have seen the all time high price for the stock. But regardless of my bearish opinion, please keep us informed of your TA reading. I appreciate it very much.
