Certainly this has been happening for ever and ever. But the Leonid shower (an annual event) this year will be 1,000 times the strength of a normal meteor shower. Its a phenomenom that happens every 32-33 years - last time it was this close was 1966 - when there were very few satellites and little reliance on satellites (outside the military).

Normally the earth hits 10 meteorids an hour - when this shit hits the fan (so to speak) we'll have 150,000 bits of dust and ice per hour for about 12 hours.

Should be a good show if nothing else.
