Cisco could break with Alcatel-paper

PARIS, Oct 9 (Reuters) - U.S. Internet technology group Cisco (Nasdaq:CSCO -
news) could break its alliance with Alcatel because it is dissatisfied about how their
co-operation is working, the Le Figaro newspaper said on Friday.

''It will be difficult to maintain our cooperation with Alcatel between now and two
years. Alcatel is a company with which a partnership is delicate,'' the paper quoted Mike Volpi, vice-president of acquisitions
at Cisco in San Jose, as saying.

''Everybody is a small supplier for Alcatel. That is okay when you are small but it becomes difficult when you have grown,''
he added.

Alcatel and Cisco have had a cooperation pact since 1997.

M.D.B: Since it is now on record that the Company has presented a target revenue for the forthcoming Q, it was useless to add to that byte-stream.

The only Q's some may have are:
a: How the next Financial statement lines up with the plan to get to $5b by 2002.?
b: The transmutation of TDM dollars to Cell dollars. ( as pointed out by Peppe)
