Spending on information and communications technology (ICT) hit $1.8 trillion last year globally and has become so important to the worldwide economy that not even financial crises stymie the market for long, according to a new study released Thursday. By the end of this year, nearly 100 million people globally will have access to the World Wide Web, and that figure will jump to 320 million by 2002.
