If you remember back a few years, there were two big steps involved in balancing the budget. The first was the President's Deficit Reduction Act of 1993, which cut the deficit in half. The Republican leadership in Congress chose to sit this one out.

The second half was budget cuts in 1995 led by the Republican Congress and signed into law by President Clinton. If you examine Bill Clinton's fiscal record throughout his career as Governor and President, it will become obvious that he has an extremely good record of fiscal responsibility.

So, according to you, it was Reagan who spent us into those huge deficits of the 1980's!
