Amazing quote with several comingled undercurrents:

(1) Economic sleight-of-hand...point out US problems
rather than draw continued attention to Japanese
intransigence on curing banking problems.

(2) "...people find good reason to leave the party
and go home" Tacit admission that genuine economic
problems, not just short sellers and hedge funds, can
create "good reasons" to exit a market.

(3) "The United States is no exception." True. Neither is Japan.
