<< the firm who was listed as being fictitious in NY,>>

bev, that designation of 'fictitious' does not mean that the business is phony. It is also known as DBA, or doing business as. There are a lot of parent corporations who have multiple business interests, each with a unique name, but in reality the same company. It would be almost impossible to put together a list of business names that do not exist, along with a contact person's name address and phone number, no? Oh, BTW, I'm not saying that REXI isn't up to no good.
