Well, at least let me make one point...many mutual fund managers who get paid to perform by buying low and selling high can not beat the S&P 500 over the long run...my conclusion is that a diversified portfolio(S&P) over the long run will do better than most if not ALL of those who think they can get in and out at a profitable time...If you know someone who has been able to beat the S&P over a long period of time(2 to 10 years), then you know the exception and not the rule!
