I am neither long nor short this stock - and have no emotional investment one way or the other. The finances do appear to be a bit mixed up. On the other hand, the value of the property they own makes one wonder how low the stock can drop. However, one would think that if the longs had made up this story about the takeover, then they could have done so with a more reputable candidate than the one making the offer. Second, the stock had strength on a truly horrible day in the market. It seems an odd day for anyone to take out a new long position. But an excellent day to cover one's shorts, especially if there are quite a number relative to the average daily volume. D
