Of course, he will mount a defense. There will be many issues challenged, the first having to do with constitutional law. There will be many, many speeches and witnesses, and much litigation. Since they have opened up the door to non-Monica stuff, and Starr couldn't find anything in 5 years and $40 million, the Senate will be bogged down forever. So, either March of 1999, or December of 2000, we are talking about a long, long bitter hearing in front of the full Senate. Do you know how much of the people's needs are going to be addressed while the Senate is involved in a long, complex trial? How many boxes of evidence is there going to be? How many pages? President Clinton gets to challenge every page of evidence and to call his own witnesses, if this is going to be a trial based on normal rules.
