TDFX selling directly pisses off boardmaker partners. Not that they haven't pissed us off, but there may be contract matters there. Also, if it was simply a second board, how would it work with the different cards already on the market? Yeah, sure, we know it could be done, but they just stated on the AGN interview that they wouldn't do that.
I would like to believe that something exciting is coming...unfortunately, TDFX doesn't know how to manage expectations- and I'm not just talking about stockholder expectations. They don't even know how to manage consumer expectations. Oct. 12 will come, and we will all be disappointed. Perhaps the big announcement will be "Drivers that actually allow you to run a Banshee and V2 in the same system"

Just got back form the local CompUSA and BestBuy,

and was amazed at what I found. At CompUSA, they had the Diamond and Creative TNT 16mb cards, but not a single Voodoo2 card of any kind. Not even a shelf placement or tag for one. But here's the kicker - they had four shelf facings full of Diamond Monster Voodoo1 cards. Price was $99 before a $30 mail-in rebate. I asked the clerk and he said they had just recieved all the Monster1 cards. Didn't know what had happened to their Voodoo2 cards..."I think we used to sell them" I had a hard time keeping my face straight...is it a law that they must hire stupid people? BTW, the TNTs were $199 each, but the Diamond had a $30 rebate offer.

BestBuy had full shelves of both Diamond and Creative's Voodoo2 12mb, priced at $249 - $50 rebate for the Diamond and $199 - $50 for the Creative. (why would anyone buy the Diamond?) They had tags and spots for both 8mb cards, but the shelves were empty. Their TNT cards were $169 (no rebate needed) for the Diamond and $199 for Creative. And they had no Voodoo1 cards....
