LTC did do better today...

EK, LTC bet against long term rates going down, they shorted the long bond. That's what got them into trouble. But with the collapse of the dollar, yield curve steepened real quick, with Britain just announcing a rate cut (LTC was long European bonds). So at least for today, and probably tomrrow, LTC is back on track. That's part of the reason the market had such a tremendous comeback rally.

I just wanted to compliment you on a GREAT post. It's almost as if the AMZN thread has the most intelligent people on it.

I go to the DELL and CSCO threads, explain to them that buying on dips might not be the answer this time, and they laugh me off!

I go to the ORCL thread and explain to them that a corporate spending slowdown can hurt profits, and I get analogies of how ORCL is fairly valued at $60 because PSFT has a PE of 60.

Kudos on someone, some people having some intelligence. My take on the whole thing is that the there is way more to go. Where's the panic? Where's the capitulation? At least 1987 occured in one big swoop, a shot to the head...this is a slow bleed. I have to sit there watching CNBC talk to the "average" investor and hear about how they are buying these wholesale stocks that are 25% off their highs. It's pathetic to see the big smiles on their faces. HELLO? Is AMZN a "steal" because it's off 40% off its high? HELLLLLL NOOOOOO! Neither is Coke or Procter and Gamble or even Merck for that matter.

I'm waiting for Mom and Pop to be on there knees asking God, "Why!, Why!"

The Dow is the next to fall...perhaps next week?

Good luck, I'm going to harass the DELL people now.

Blair and Clinton are making a tragic mistake by staking their reputation / credibility on the fact that further deterioration can be avoided.

They should save their speeches for now, and work in the background, in order to avoid raising expectations.

Being politicians, they could not resist the temptation of trying to get political kudos for leadership.

When the serious decline comes, they'll look like chicken running with their head chopped off.
