Yeah, me too. For instance, I completely missed that part of history where, after the pendulum began to swing to the conservative side and the Republicans, in 1968, we had fabulous economic times, lots of jobs, peace, and national harmony.

For some reason, it seemed like the whole period was a process of going from bad to worse. Our foreign policy seemed to be a catastrophe. Real income of male WASPs dropped 5%. The size of the middle class was cut in half, using the old criteria. Retiring presidents dropped in on Tokyo and the Saudis for a few million bucks in thank-yous. But no doubt you are right. This was a conservative party, so it must have been a good one.

Gee it was fun. I guess.
