NW, CPQ has been doing relatively well in this confused down market. Watching the ticker today I saw a number of times where there were BIG UP tick buys going on. Prior to the last few months of confusion I would have assumed these buy-ups were the day traders who would sell between 3 to 3:30. But this doesn't seem that way because: (1) It's just been too risky and wierd these days for the day traders to play that game, and (2) the BIG buys have come throughout the whole day rather than after the pre-normal 9:30-10:15 runnup. As well, there have been so many investment firms who upgraded CPQ and NOT come out since with any cautionary words; which after last year I would expect if there was any wind of dissapoinment. As well, whether you watch CNBC, MoneyLine, WS Week, etc. analysts are recommending CPQ for the long term while NOT saying that money can't be made in the short term. As well, at my local COMPUSA every third person or so is walking out with a new CPQ computer. As well, as you read CPQ's various and continuous press releases you can begin watching the actual implementation of a solid long-term total-solution multi-geographic (world-wide) strategy which has real good chances of working BIGTIME. Threaders here who are more technically adept than me have NOT been negative to the individual announcements; since I know us threaders are vocal I would have expected some negativity. THE FUTURE: (1)The 4qtr which should be CPQ's best, (2) Something WILL be done with ALTAVISTA, (3) ALPHA's value has yet to be accumulated, (4) All the cost-saving layoffs aren't finished, (5) DELL is good but it will stumble and CPQ has a great chance to become investment of choice or at a minimum an equal-opporunity investment, (6) Good earnings, minimal dissapointments, honesty will beget rising prices. Oh yes, the world's financial chaos is the downside risk but I would expect that too to be addressed piece-by-piece over time. In summary, I believe CPQ ain't a bad place to grow your money. Michael
