FRANKFURT, Germany (Reuters) - German business software maker SAP AG (SAP - news) saw sales rise 43 percent in the third quarter and pretax profit grow slightly above that level, the company said Friday.

Third-quarter sales were about $1.2 billion, SAP said in a statement. SAP also said it would stick to its growth forecast for this year.

''The management is holding to its prognosis that sales could rise about 40 percent and that pretax profit could gain between 30 and 35 percent,'' SAP said.

Nine-month sales were up 54 percent to 5.88 billion marks ($3.6 billion).

SAP said it would publish detailed third-quarter results on Oct. 20.
