Navigator has always had the URL window at the top of he browser, assuming that the view preference was set to show it.

Brad added the URL location at the bottom for several reasons:

1) Many users didn't have the "View URL" set in their browser;

2) Some users that did have it didn't know they could copy/paste it; and, perhaps most importantly,

3) Originally, all messages were located with a URL that contained the thread/sequence number (ordinal URL). All too often, an copy/pasted URL would wind up pointing to the wrong message when other messages got deleted and the thread was resequenced. As I recall, yours truly suggested reformatting the URL to use the absolute record number versus the ordinal format, since the absolute record number was not affected by deleted messages. As a shortcut, Brad added the a URL with the absolute record number to the bottom of each message for copy/paste purposes. Over time, he has changed all of the various access methods to return the absolute URL. I believe the last use of the ordinal URLs was in connection with the little jump box contained in each message. Even that now returns the absolute URL, so the extra URL box at the bottom of each message is now moot.

Of course, I'll defer to the Masterprogrammer if he says otherwise. <g>

Well, to be redundant, having one's bookmarks page be in the left window, rather than the (formerly) existing navigation bar, would not be redundant and would increase clickficiency..............I think.
