Gary,

You seem to assume that those who sold at 42 did so out of fear. From what I read, a good deal of the selling going on was from hedge funds which had to liquidate their positions; undoubtedly, individuals in a similar situation (margin calls) were involved as well. This is not fear, and it is a good example of how an excellent company which has given no indication that it wouldn't meet its targets can still get hurt in a general market downturn; a good example of why people should avoid getting too highly leveraged unless they're absolutely sure it's the bottom, etc., etc.

Bob

Gary- Yesterday was panic....emotional selling....Great time to buy great companies....It really doesnt matter to me if it was hedge funds guys, Japanese investors repatriating capital....main thing is (is that) the selling was over done.

Buy great companies. Buy them low. Buy them when they are being unfairly hammered. Dell and Cisco....they are two of the best around.

I think Dell (and Cisco) will rise well next week (due to earnings and tech conference)...After options expiration (next Friday) I could see one more dip, before a nice overall rally (thru Christmas/January)...even if we see one more dip, I dont think Cisco will see 40 and change again (or Dell 80 and change)...Once in a lifetime opportunity yesterday..

Of course, in the short-term I could be wrong....In the long-term, I am very comfortable with Dell and Cisco at the levels I bought in..... (although I know we disagree to some extent on Dell's future)...

Anyway...good luck with all....it seems yesterday's action happens about twice a year (or so)..Glad I caught it...

I did about the same thing. Sold half of my cisco stock and put the money on dell at 41. Not a bad move. Granted both are doing better now, Dell is doing better
