In another post (at a time long, long ago, in a world far, far away) the concept of perjury was discussed at some depth. Perjury, or even just lying under oath, is a crime against the state and against the judicial branch of the government. Since lying under oath subverts our judicial system (sorry for the strong words, but that's how the issue has historically been looked at), it absolutely has to do with "the people's affairs (I like that "affairs" touch - was the pun intentional?).

That being said - you still have to weigh the harm done, against the harm that would be done by hearings and actual impeachment.
