Do you have a suggestion for an improvement?

Get big money out of politics. Remove the loopholes that allow corporations, PACs, and labor unions to contribute huge sums to political parties. Give candidates free time on publicly owned airwaves--and publicly subsidized cable networks and the Internet. More aggressive voter registration. Change election days to Sunday or Saturday instead of Tuesday.

what are your criteria on how you decide how to vote?

Generally I vote for whomever I believe will do the least harm to the weakest people in the country and the world. I can't help it. I'm just a sucker for the underdog. But I couldn't bring myself to vote for Clinton, not in 92 and not in 96. Even though I liked him more than Bush and Dole. He's just too transparently phony. I didn't vote for either candidate. Although in 1996 I did vote for local and state candidates. . I'm not going to vote for Sen. Carol Mosley-Braun either, her association with the late Nigerian dictator made me sick, even though I dislike her opponent even more. I'm just not going to cast a vote for either candidate. It may be politically irresponsible, but I'll feel better about myself the next morning. And in the end, that's what's really counts, right? :–)
