>>whats the difference between images and mirrors?<<

The Power Quest Drive Image program creates one large file that they call an image. The file can be copied or moved just like any other file. The image is a complete backup of a harddrive contained in one file.

A mirror is a clone of a harddrive. It is a second hardrive that has the identical file structure to the first. If you were to view a mirror in a file manager you would see the directory structure and all of the files. If you were to view an image file you would just see one file.

The KOT drive as I have defined it is a mirror. Some RAID configurations also create mirrors. RAID 1 is a RAID configuration that writes every file to each of two harddrives. It is typically used in servers. It is a continuous backup concept.

Mirror=identical backup
Image=complete backup that must be restored before use.
