Wayne,
Why short COMS when there are many suckers deserved to be short? Put in another ways, COMS already beaten, many see as a bargain, market is very bullish again after string of bad days, the gain for shorting is small the risk is higher? Why didn't you find scam stocks like FP LBOR... or stocks like LAMR to short?
Thanks

Wayne,joe:

I wouldn't short COMS at this time personally, but I do see Wayne's strategy as viable because:

Monday should be a slow day due to bond market closed, etc.

If gap up does happen I think it is very likely (odds in Wayne's favor) to go back down due to lack of investors on MONDAY to continue market surge. Also, don't think major news will be released if all investors are not "in the game" MONDAY.

Just a few thoughts...

Matt

>> If it keeps running, my buy to cover stop would get hit. I place buy to cover stops at the same place I'd put a buy stop order.<<

Wow, that's a lot of simultaneous orders. I feel nervous
just thinking my
online-brokerage will screw up somehow or another. I always
feel that I have to watch them closely. It's *very* irritating
when you have to wait 5-10 minutes for confirmation...it
can drive me nuts.<g>

>>That's right, it depends on how sentiment builds this weekend, the overseas markets and the S&P Futures contract on monday.<<

I will spend this weekend reading the economic news. COMS
fundamentals are sound. It's obvious that in a market friendly
environment, buying is pretty good as of late. The COMS tape
runs well with good news. The key is what the economic
ramifications are at the moment. This week has had an
incredible amount of news which I'm sure a lot of economists
and analysts are having to really scratch their heads over
and need time to digest.

>>Just trade with the trend my friend.<<

Yes, the first hour-to mid day I think will let us
know whether we will retest 23-25 again. Today's midday
trend told us not today. I think that's what you're saying.
One minor disagreement though. I think these MMs will
keep flatlining that trend and then suddenly surprise
the hell out of us and drop the price by 1/2pt to a full
point in a *very* short time period. Likewise, the opposite
at times on an up tape.

I just got this book on how the MMs work. I'm going to
read it and see if I can learn anything useful.

I'll try and keep in touch over the weekend...

Have a good one.
joe
