I still think the PE has been gradually coming down. Look at the yahoo stock chart and you will see the PE of 250 or what ever it like a full quarter old. The actual pe is like 150 and then after earnigs come out it should come close to 100.

Cool, someone here has actually read Malkiel. Although I am not a Malkeil disciple, a reading of him could only be helpful in trying times like this.
