<<Veal and lamb are delicious>>

That may be, but there's plenty for me to eat that wasn't treated in what I consider to be an inhumane fashion. FWIW - I'm not trying to convince anyone to follow my eating habits (I doubt you could eat that much chocolate anyway <g>). Everyone has an internal compass, and lives with it. My way is not necessarily better than yours, only different.

<<And when you get sick and need a drug, remember you will live because of the wonderful work our scientists did testing on those chimps>>

Possibly, although I resist taking any medications unless my life is in danger. I take aspirin, but pass on just about everything else. You are right though - if my life were in danger, and the medicine was there, I would take it. I'm not proud of that, but it's still true.

The problem with this logic is that if you carry it to an extreme it justifies what the Nazis and Japanese did with their human experiments during WWII. After all, some of that experimentation led to current treatments for hypothermia, burns, and assorted other wounds, illnesses and physical abnormalities. I realize we differ here, but I feel that animals (at least mammals) all have feelings, and are entitled to humane treatment. In my mind, it just isn't right to torture an animal. If you don't see it as torture, then it becomes more acceptable, but where do you draw the line?

And many chimps will die horrible, and painful deaths over long periods of time by less than effective and ill planned tests.

How about doing medical tests on conservative humans to save the lives of chimps? Think of the medical miracles that could be developed to make the lives of chimps better!
