Bait [impaling a worm on a hook was the worst part for me so much that now when ever I see a worm stranded on concrete on a rainy night I rescue it. Soon I shall catch up with all the worms I tortured in my youth]now I use only artificial flies with barb less hooks[lots more fun too] and release everything.I know that trout don't particularly like this but quite often I see them resume feeding within a few minutes so it's not as traumatic as you might think.But I'm sure you would feel that this only lessens the degree of the crime .We are predators, the fossil record is quite clear here. And as such we have every right to responsibly take prey animals.In spite of living in a[some what] civilized society the predatory instinct remains intact. Fishing satisfies this for me. Plus it is of no small benefit to me to find my self in some very beautiful and pristine environments.Which I try my best to disturb as little as possible. pez
