Very interesting observation, rudedog..The perceptions of the times were such that several of us would have gone with CPQ at that time...and did.. I'm sorry to say!!

All in jest rude.

rude:
I was only foolin' with Eddie,of course I remember when CPQ was a power-house in its hey day, unfortunately they have fallen into some bad times which could happen to anybody.Listen one of my PCs is a CPQ. But I did loose a little money on account of bad timing and management blunders yeah but so what, a Canadian company took me for 40K last year.I guess we win some and loose some but I hope at the end of the day we win more than lose.<g>

Great post, rudedog.

You never know which stock will make it big.

But....
CPQ - now the "loser"
DELL - now the "winner"

Hmmmm...if history repeats itself...

r,

Great comparison post! I feel that most would have fallen for CPQ, including me based on that chart, especially at that time!

I might still fall for it if CPQ could get their accounting system to function as well as DELLs is currently running.

I have heard some of the new CPQ adds on TV now, and they are quite good! This morning I heard that a $499 computer, 266mhz, 32M ram, 2G hard disk, 56K modem and 14" monitor is going on sale here (Seattle area). System is $399 w/o monitor! I'm sure that there is no software except the operating system, maybe! (Just heard, computer is from South Korea)

That's a heck of a price!

Just yesterday, I received e-mail about a MICRON computer for $1899, see previous post!

Looks like competition is 'heating' up!

Regards,

Ken
