Mortgage rates are up because the intermediate lenders have been squeezed out by an imbalance in some key interest rates - end brokers have nowhere to shop the contracts. This was made worse by the fed cut which made it even more unattractive, so we pay more interest. I think this is a very temporary condition which will be gone in a month. I would wait if I were you, get those lower rates.

I know you believe in Cpq and thats your business..
I honestly can't say which is the right investment at the moment, that's why I'm in both CPQ and Dell. My point is that the history of the last few months or even years does not tell us anything about the future. Both of these companies are very strong and there is justification for both to maintain great growth and stock price. Which will climb higher or move faster is not something we can get from the charts.

There was good reason for Dell to go in the tank in early 1993. they made some serious errors. They got past it and were stronger than ever. There was good reason for CPQ to go in the tank in early 1998. they made some serious errors. They got past it and are stronger than ever.

Dell is maybe a more likeable company, great values and culture. CPQ is more appealing to a techie like me because of the depth of their technical capability.

Have a nice weekend, let's hope Monday is stable and sane.
