A couple of cute ones from TMF (don't worry a few of us true amznoholics are watching over in the den of the bulls there, though the bullish ranks are rapidly dwindling.

Think Amazon could never fail to have a book? Amazon will always provide instant gratification?
Jose Saramago won the Nobel Prize for Literature today (Thursday, October 8). Want to order his
latest novel, Blindness?

Borders.com: claims it's in stock, will ship to you immediately.

Barnesandnoble.com: claims it's in stock, will ship to you in 2-3 days.

Amazon.com: claims it's back ordered, will ship to you in 3-5 weeks.

No, the ten day book was listed as "ships immediately."

At the same time I ordered another book that was listed as "ships within 24 hours." That one
took about twenty days. Waiting for the second book may have delayed the first one.

I went by the Amazon web site today and... now either I am going crazy (I don't think so, I still feel
Sane), or Amazon used to list some/many books as "Ships immediately." Then there was "Usually
ships within 24 hours," "Ships in 2-3 days," etc.

All of the "Ships immediately" ratings have been taken away. The fastest rating now is "Usually ships
within 24 hours," even for things like the latest Stephen King novel.

I'm sure I'm not imagining the "ships immediately" rating, because of the distinction between the two
books mentioned above.

I guess Amazon has decided to be less aggressive about their claimed delivery time. Or maybe
there was never a real difference between "ships immediately" and "usually ships within 24 hours"
ratings.

Glenn: Right according to plan - now Amazon can come in 5c to the better of the greatly reduced (and ignored) downward revised numbers and the carpet bag hypsters will say "Is't that wonderfull, Amazon.com did much better than expected and only lost $0.41!" The stock will be sure to rise as the bulls point out how great the company will do in the year 2020.
