I think that today's slide could be as simple as an adjustment to ECI's holding up better in the down market than other telco eq cos and, as money went into the LU's and the CSCO's today it came out of stocks like ECI.

I don''t know. But I think it's a solid co.

On reconsideration, I think my comment about Claridge was probably a stretch. Claridge is the name for Bronfman holdings in Israel run by Jonathan Kolber, now board chairman of ECI. As I recall, Claridge is seeking control of Koor holdings, selling off some and plans to concentrate on ECI as its sort of Koor flagship. In order to build up Koor's holdings of ECI, options have been taken to purchase ECI shares from Clal, another Israeli holding company. I think the next option calls for the purchase of a block of ECI from Clal for $37 a share sometime next year.

I have followed ECI for some 10 years, trading now and then, but retaining a core holding all this time-- and have a high regard for the company and its ability to move quickly in the fast-changing telcom environment. My disappointment with the recent bleeding led me to look for far-fetched reasons for the decline. I thought ECI would hold up better but it has been swept up like the others.
