Is this your idea of information? Forgive the unsolicited advice, but if I wanted real information I would stop talking to company PR firms and start taking people I know in the firm hired to broker potential deals to lunch. It sounds like your man didn't even hint at names of the partner...

That was good work. I think the Fed's going to need to ease again to get a real rally going, however. (could happen) I believe a deal is near, however, ironing out the final points could take a few more weeks rather than days. Good luck!

Thanks for the info. That's a lot more than I got from Mike Baer yesterday. He'd only confirm they were in "end game" discussions, and something would break within 30 days.

You posted 1) They tracked the huge drop yesterday to a large mutual fund selling their holdings, probably for tax purposes since tax losses must be booked by 10/31/98.

Why would they have to be booked by 10/31/98 ??
