August conference call synopsis, part II:

Baysouth Company: "Your schedule of follow-up equipment, which was due for October. Is that still on track?" L.D. It's a little ahead of schedule, they're expecting it in Sept., with additional equipment due in November. An additional question, " regarding question about "generally being on schedule for volume production by September, but your response was that you were behind, how do you respond now?" L.D. We've made that time up, but though we haven't run the line "full bore" at this point every piece of equipment has worked individual and is scheduled to work together.

Dan Rowscher: "Regarding sales process. They were wondering if enough OEM's have seen the batteries to now be waiting product off the line, and how are they doing with employees?" L.D. For some customers it's a matter of a credibility game, and others want to be "first out of the box," and these are the ones they're dealing with. It's all a matter of "evolution." VLNC doesn't want to "push them." Some customers are laying out their new products at the same time they're evaluating the batteries. They're currently writing the "process cards" and are putting the quality assurance methods in place for future manufacture.

Prudential Securities: "Question about number of employees in N.I. ie it's at 75, are they expanding." D.A. stated it's up over 95 plus temp's, and L.D. stated "if I recall from his visit last week they're now up over 114, not including those people they're beginning to move from Henderson to N.I."

BaySouth: "What can you say about production capacity for N.I.?" L.D. On the large battery line we should be able to make 5 batteries per minute, and on the small battery line it should be about 5 per minute as well(per machine). We can ramp up production fairly rapidly after that. We can break even, with large batteries, at 3000 batteries per day. Which is one line. Of course this depends on yields, etc., but we can see our way to be profitable with just one line in operation.

L.D. then went on to closing remarks, we're in a unique position, that this is an opportunity that doesn't come along very often, with a technology which that doesn't come along very often(personnel note--this jives with my comment about VLNC being in a position amounting to a business persons "wet" dream, heh)......
--------

Just some food for thought while we wait on the next c.c., not to mention the remainder of the year. Now, if only the market in general will just turn around......but we've still the remainder of October to overcome, one that this year is, so far anyway, proving to be as scary as a room full of vampires locked out of a blood bank. Heh!
