Sue,

I agree that when the market rebounds, these stocks will probably go the opposite way.

But where else could you have done so well during this correction, and isn't this a good lesson for corrections to come, assuming that they happen when interest rates are low and oil prices are low.

The reason the utilities did so well, among other things previously stated, was the dividends which have a yield at least as good as the long bond.

Peace,

David

just a thought ... IF ...

the market rebounds ... these will go just the opposite way ...
<<

I noticed that on thursday companies like ATI, SBC etc posted large gains and on friday they lost all those gains. Seems more connected to bonds than anything else.

>>I cannot say if the market has bottomed ... <<

Well you wont know for a few more months but last friday was the time to start looking at things, although the bottom fell out of the erp software sector this week, most others have gone up slightly this week.

>>would hate to see anyone buy a utilitiy here at their highs ... <<

They expect bonds to head to te 3% area by next year so at least there is hope that even is they do drop, in an year they will be higher (?).

I wont go bottom fishing here, there are some great companies to buy out there to play the dip.
