All because of Dennis Hayes' ego. I was gonna say that! I remember that ego-maniac telling the CEO of Megahertz that he would destroy (Megahertz) him if he didn't license the Xjack&reg connector to Hayes. Megahertz licensed the connector technology to Hayes but then improved the design and Hayes had to sell theres with the inferior one. Shortly thereafter Robo bought Meggie and Hayes died a slow death! Didn't Paul Allen take a large equity stake in Hayes? He did but I'd have to dig up the details, lost my bookmarks :-(
