Giraffe : ( I presume your monniker is well chosen because of what you can see from up there!) I am glad that you agree with me.

Nevertheless, I understand exactly what you mean about agreeing. In fact, I usually believe I'm wrong when people agree with me. I like to think that my thoughts are unique which, of course, is impossible.

I do believe, however, that we are in uncharted territory, now. There are various extreme scenarios which could develop --- and very rapidly, too. Uncertainty is the natural enemy of the stock-market --- continued falls are therefore most likely --- we will still see if the present uncertainty is the friend of gold.

So, it's hard to argue against cash as being number 1. But, if there is a number 2 it has to be gold.
