AMZN in commodities to begin with...

Good story. Of course you have read in NY Times today that Hayes applied for bankruptcy....again! (first time was in 1994).

The difference is that AMZN got into a commodity business to begin with. It took Hayes many years to unravel but they stayed in the game because it was a proprietary product. AMZN has only a one year head start in a business that is already a commodity business, and one with flat growth on top of that.

re: hayes etc. -- as always (virtually) I find myself in complete accord with you (though I am still in almost as much shock at your (temporary?) conversion from uber-value investor into day trader as I am at reading Mark Fowler's short posts!!!! -- hey however you make or recoup your monies, good luck gents)
