The number is 17+ million installed base...check latest news releases.

Also keep an eye on LS-120. Current Floptical technology has the potential to go up to 300MB and significant improvement in speed. If my memory is correct, Panasonic is working on this but nothing materialize yet.

Iomega had floptical technology (aka LS-120) and sold that technology due to a limited upgrade path and speed limitations......then invented the zip drive instead.
