Some fun reading regarding Sega's new Dreamcast game machine:

htgk.singnet.com.sg

It also gives some info on the SH-4 processor. I wonder how it stacks up to the StrongArm.

Jim,

Bob is usually pretty straight with his facts and has links to back them up with. But, I do not recall reading or hearing that the Cayenne core used the MII integer unit. I'm off to the Cyrix press releases from last years MPF to see if there is any insight there. Bob, do you have any links? I seem to remember that the Cayenne core was to have an enhanced integer unit.

Jim,

Re: "What the heck has taken NSM so long to get out a chip with the Cayenne
core,,,other than having no FAB?"

You actually bring up a very good point, Jim ... It is much easier to announce
that you have a .25um Fab than it is to actually develop the process and
make that process manufacturable. One of my posts last spring on this thread said that it would take a minimum of 9 months ... of course everyone
"pooh-poohed" my post. I really should have "shorted" NSM just like I did
AMD ... Oh well, maybe next time. <ggg>
