LGS Group Announces a $38 Million Partnership With the
Quebec Department of Justice
MONTREAL, QUEBEC--LGS Group Inc. is pleased to announce that it
has concluded a five-year, $38-million partnership agreement with
the Quebec Department of Justice. Under the partnership, LGS will
develop and manage the provincial Register of Personal and
Moveable Real Rights, accessible through Internet.
The new electronic Register will allow the consumer to access
information regarding any financial claims against such major
items as automobiles and boats. In an effort to better protect
the consumer, the Justice Department is expanding the current law
to allow the registration of these items. Earlier legislation
provided only for the registration of real estate.
Not only will LGS Group's technological solution enable users to
consult the Register from their business offices via the Internet,
it will also provide a secure connection for the registration of
Personal and Moveable Real Rights. /T/The project managed by LGS Group includes:
- creating and implementing the on-line Register;
- maintaining the technological infrastructure;
- operating a technical support line and,
- promoting the use of the Register with different clientele -
legal, financial and commercial./T/
"This new partnership will modernize the way in which the Justice
Department provides services to the population. This project is a
concrete and conclusive example of the benefits that the Quebec
government's Information Highway Policy provides for the entire
population", stated Quebec Justice Minister, Serge Menard.
"There are very few equivalent projects in the world today", added
Raymond Lafontaine, President and CEO of LGS Group, commenting the
issue of secure internet connections. "In fact, this project is
an international technology showcase which confirms our capability
in the attribution of public keys for security purposes on the
Internet. It will allow us to introduce our electronic commerce
expertise to foreign markets, particularly in Europe".
LGS Group Inc. is one of Canada's largest information technology
consulting firms, specializing in management and systems
integration. With annual sales exceeding $134 million, LGS
employs approximately 2,000 professionals in 16 offices in Canada
