RE: Freedom from want and fear

Yes, "want" is what I want everyone to be free from. Some good-hearted people who visit refugee camps where people are starving are unable to eat their own rations, sometimes becoming ill because there is nothing they can do to relieve the want, especially of the children who are starving to death around them. I caution you to stay out of refugee camps unless your heart is harder and your stomach stronger than even you believe.

Yes, "fear" is what I want everyone to be free of -- even persons in prisons and criminals. Psychology has demonstrated that fear and punishment are ineffective ways to train any subject. Even a vicious dog responds far better to a pat on the head and a bit of food than to a curse and a kick. Who ever saw a vicious puppy? Or a vicious baby?
