im still sort of in morning after that race, two champions of the ages go down together. it was one thing when holy bull passed the torch to cigar, cigar than hands the reigns to skippy in a shocking defeat, gentleman goes down for a year with throat ulcers. but two champions in one race, ugh, tear to my eye. i thought for sure it was going to be an alydar/affirmed type stretch run but both came up late and that mudder just splashed home like a duck. wagon limit will not be the next champ though, it was the mud, hes a conquistodor cielo who are genetically born with fins and a quack. skip has beaten him handily a number of times without breaking a lather. i will write it off to the mud and the speed duel and hopefully hubbard will supplement the 800000 dollars to run gentleman against skippy in the breeders cup. skippy was 3 for 3 in the mud and gentleman won in the mud also so i dont know what to think except im sad and i want to see them hook up one more time on a fast fair track, the two kings. medieveil hero really spit the bit huh? yuck but the groom is red looked like the real deal, though i think that might have been the mud as well as his breeding indicates a penchant for swimming. and sharp cat in the beldame was just awesome, shes just heads and shoulders above any filly in the country right now. allen jerkens, damn him, beats secretariat twice, beats kelso, now beats skippy and gentleman - the man is evil i tell ya. no im kidding hes just one hell of a trainer. next stop breeders cup.
