Well, Folks, we got lucky! Mr. Tom Bryant has graciously offered us a report from the EGS, Edmonton Geological Society, meeting that took place this last Friday (Oct.16/98, a discussion on the 'Bad Heart Formation' of Alberta, as mentioned earlier). I will post the full report in a minute. - - - First, a little background on pioneer, Mr. Tom Bryant: Tom Bryant and DeBeers are the diamond exploration pioneers in Alberta. When Monopros acquired their first permits in the 1980's, it was very expensive since performance bonds had to be posted. Very expensive. Mr. Bryant lobbied for years to have the rules changed and they finally were in the early 90's, with spectacular results as we have so far seen. I have learned that Tom Bryant was the first to recognize the Bad Heart deposits as being volcanically derived and eventually became the first to suggest that they contained significant kimberlitic components. This was later confirmed by Marum's work, and more recently by a reported number of independent research organizations. --- Further, (from Micrex website: mixcorp.com ) "Mr. Tom Bryant; Micrex V.P. Exploration and Development is a professional prospector well known in Alberta. "He has College Honours degrees in Cartography and Thematic Cartographic Technology as well as associated courses in Geology. Tom Bryant has been a consultant to the precious metals industry for over 12 years. For ten years he has headed up his own exploration and mining efforts in addition to consulting for other companies. "He is credited with the first documented diamond find in Alberta." / / / ------------ Mr. Tom Bryant's excellent report from the meeting follows, on the next post... [click "Next"] ... :>
