I don't know why you are sighing--are you getting impatient with me? What is your underlying opinion on all of this, anyway?

I was watching a talking head program last night, and a commentator was giving the opinion that both parties are alienated from their bases on this issue. Every-day Democrats do believe that this is just about Clinton's private life, and that he should be left in office. Democratic politicians are very angry at him, on the other hand, and would be quite happy to have him resign and deal with Gore, instead. They believe Clinton is bringing them all down.

The Republican leaders really want Clinton to stay in office, since he is dead meat, and they can use the next two years to get their agenda enforced. But they are forced to proceed with the doings in the House because their base just detests Clinton and believes he should resign right now, or be impeached and convicted.

I don't see how one could argue that America is fixated on the President's genitals, since over sixty percent of them want this mess to end RIGHT NOW, with Clinton left in office. How can you be fixated on his genitals, and want to drop the subject at the same time?
